THE WEAPON AGAINST SILENCES

Silence can be heavy. Not the peaceful kind but the kind that grows in refugee settlements, in haunting memories of war, violences, oppression and responsibility beyond ability. In such quiet corners where dreams disappear because survival takes all the space, haunting silences dwell.

I learned early that silence can swallow identity, voice, and purpose… unless something rises to confront it.

For me, that “something” has always been ART.

Growing up with conflict, displacement, and uncertainty shaped my understanding of the world. Leaving in a refugee settlement, I discovered that people around me carried stories too painful to speak and too sacred to forget. They carried traumas that had no language. They carried dreams that had no room. A futures that felt so distant.

In that environment, I realized something important: Silence is not the absence of sound, silence is the absence of recognition. And recognition is what every human being deserves.

“Art became my weapon against that silence.”

The Birth of Dotism

It started with a simple dot, just a mark on paper. But to me, that dot was the beginning of everything. It represented identity, existence, and the smallest seed of meaning to rewrite my story.

Now, guess what!!!

From that moment grew my artistic philosophy, Dotism:

From something comes everything, and from everything comes something.

Every dot in my work symbolizes a personality, a history and an invisible story. Every symbol is a testament and a footprint of experiences every refugee endures. Every color is an emotion of abandonment, resilience and recreation. Circles are symbols of healing, return, introspection and spiritual identity. They are echoes of the world we lost and the world we hope to rebuild.

When words failed, art became my language. When trauma silenced voices, art became a bridge back to humanity. When the world ignored refugee stories, art became my way of shouting without raising my voice.

Art as Healing for Communities

Today, I work through Symbolic abstract expressionism, sculpture, poetry, and authoring of different mediums of art to create safe spaces where displaced people and the marginalized can express themselves freely without fear, judgment, or limitations.

I believe in something powerful, a world whereChildren and youth rediscover confidence, women and men reclaim their voices. And communities reconnecting with their stories.

As for a reason that every story matters. Art has the power to; Transform pain into strength, Restore dignity, Document untold histories and Rebuild identity where displacement has taken so much away.

The World of Circles Project

As I continue developing The World of Circles; a project addressing why we need freedom though it seems to be beyond reach. Through paintings, sculptures, poems, books, murals, workshops, and exhibitions rooted in healing I’m building something bigger than myself.

Through KOVICOS, I aim to create an artistic ecosystem where the marginalized can rise, express, create, and challenge the silence the world often imposes on them.

I believe;

✓ Art can shape policy

Art can shift narratives

Art can ignite movements

Art can awaken nations to the humanity behind statistics

And that is why to me art is my weapon against silence.

It transforms personal wounds into collective healing.

It gives power to the unheard and the voiceless.

It gives narrative to a world that too often forgets to listen.

Creation Is Stronger Than Silence

“Silence is strong yet creation is stronger.”

Silence is strong because it settles in the places where pain has no language. It hides in the memories we avoid, in the traumas we carry quietly, in the moments when speaking feels impossible. But creation, whether through art, writing, music, or movements is stronger, because it gives form to everything silence tries to bury.

Creation turns wounds into symbols, fear into expression, and isolation into connection. It allows a person who felt invisible to suddenly be seen. It transforms heaviness into meaning and replaces the quiet of suffering with the courage of storytelling. Through creation, a single voice can echo across communities, awakening empathy, inspiring action, and reminding the world that every life holds value. That is why, even when silence feels powerful, creation always finds a way to rise above it.
