THE CHRONICLE LOOP
Every life is marked by moments that change us forever. Some experiences break us apart, others rebuild us, and many quietly become part of the story we carry for the rest of our lives. The Chronicle Loop was born from my reflection on this endless human journey.
As a Congolese refugee, I have come to see life not as a straight path, but as a continuous cycle of beginnings and endings. We experience joy and grief, certainty and doubt, loss and renewal. Each chapter leaves its mark upon us, shaping who we become while preparing us for the next stage of our existence. This painting is my meditation on that eternal rhythm.
Created through the symbolic language of Dotism, the composition weaves together elemental forms, shadowed figures, and VICOBET inscriptions to express the invisible forces that accompany every human life. Earth represents our roots and inheritance. Water reflects emotion, healing, and purification. Air speaks of consciousness and awareness, while fire embodies sacrifice, transformation, and renewal. Together they remind us that every life is continually being shaped by forces both seen and unseen.
At the heart of the work stands a figure suspended between memory and transcendence. It represents every person who has endured loss, confronted uncertainty, and emerged changed. The “valley of death” is not portrayed as an ending but as a profound passage—a place where fear, suffering, and old identities are left behind so that new life may begin. In this sense, renewal is not accidental; it is the reward of perseverance, reflection, and the courage to continue.
Within The World of Circles, The Chronicle Loop reflects the belief that our histories do not imprison us. Instead, every experience becomes part of an ever-expanding circle of growth, wisdom, and transformation. The painting invites viewers to pause and consider their own journey, asking how their memories, choices, and hopes continue to shape the person they are becoming.
Ultimately, The Chronicle Loop is a celebration of human resilience. It reminds us that while time changes every life, it also offers each of us the opportunity to begin again.
