MY IDENTITY ORACLE
My Identical Oracle is an introspective self-portrait that confronts the spiritual and existential struggles of living in a world marked by injustice, displacement, and uncertainty. Born from my lived experience as a Congolese refugee, the work reflects the emotional landscape shaped by exile, betrayal, solitude, and the relentless search for meaning.
The painting embodies the lone-wolf archetype—not as a symbol of isolation for its own sake, but as an act of self-preservation and resilience when trust has been fractured. Through the symbolic language of Dotism and contemporary symbolic abstract expressionism, the work explores the dialogue between the intellectual, subconscious, and spiritual dimensions of the self. These interconnected layers become a journey toward balance, truth, and divine illumination.
The incorporation of aluminum foil and stone extends the painting beyond traditional media, introducing material metaphors for reflection, endurance, and permanence. Together, these elements express the tension between vulnerability and strength, fragmentation and wholeness, darkness and hope.
